Coop is about 80% done.

Looks great so far! We didn't think we had many predators around here either...until we got chickens and became aware of their presence (sometimes the hard way). Better safe than sorry. Do the best you can with the information you have because sooner or later, we all lose chickens. It's a drag but you feel worse about it when you could've prevented it early on.

Coons will climb your fence around the yard, fox will dig under it, rats will climb over, come under. Birds of prey will sit in the tree tops and come down. Your own dog (even if protective now) could harm a chick too trying to "play". Welded wire hardware cloth on the outside will add the extra protection. It also keeps in the new smaller chicks and keeps the hens from sticking their heads through the fence to eat what's on the outside.

You haven't seen them yet, but predators are out there, even in towns and cities.
