Coop is almost done and now I need to install the roosts.
We plan on having 2 roosts 4' long one on top of the other (well not exactly on top I know I need to stagger them)
How far away from the coop wall should the roost be, how high up and how far do I need to space the one below it?

In most of the pictures i see. The top roost is closer to the wall than the bottom but its hard to judge distance in pics.
Thanks bunches guys, hoping to move these chicks (almost pullets) in tonight =-)

The top one should be about a foot from the wall. If you can, do the lower one about 24" from the wall. Odds are they will all face the same direction (at least mine do), and the lower roost wouldn't have to be out that far, but you definitely don't want chickens pooping on chickens. Height difference between roosts can be about anything. I think mine are about 8 inches higher/lower. I've adjusted my roosts more than once, so you can always change things up a little if they're not working.

My droppings board is 30 inches from the floor, and the board is 30" wide. The lower roost is 9" from the board, the top roost is 20" from the floor. The top roost is 12" from the wall, and the bottom roost is 14 inches from the top roost. Hope that helps - it has worked out great for our girls:)

Love your set up here. I think I am a little more pressed for room, but I'd love to model this and try to build something similar in my coop. Can I find a larger pic of this somewhere?
