Coop is done!

I hope you know that in the winter, ventilation is very important in a coop to prevent chickens from getting frost bite.
Yes I am picking four of these this week from menards to install on all four sides! Just didn’t have a chance to run there this weekend

I'm sorry, but those are completely inadequate for chickens. :(

You need square feet of ventilation, not square inches. The usual guideline is 1 square foot per adult, standard-size hen or enough that the temperature and humidity is the same inside and out. :)

Cutting large vents at the top and bottom of the roof slope, covering them with hardware cloth, and using the cut pieces to make awnings for them would be an easy option.

Okay thank you! I will look into doing that, it’s easy enough to cut the metal out so we’ll def get something figured out!

I love working with that metal.

We got the electric metal shears and the self-tapping screws. The battery-powered impact driver made it all so easy to handle. :)

This is what you're looking for in the way of airflow:

So we should put the vents in the front and the back of the coop like in those photos?

it looks great!

id cut vents as has already been suggested, and also install another large window on one of the two side walls. more ventilation is always better. a window gives you the flexibility of opening or closing it, depending on weather.
