Coop location question

If it is 3' high you can probably reach 4' with a rake without too much pain or trouble. Either 4x8 or 4x10 would give enough room for three chickens, especially considering you will also have a coop. The trick would be coming up with a way to access it. Maybe a frame that you can bolt on (butterfly nuts have come in handy for me) or a hinged door placed where you can still access the corners. If it is just for cleaning you will not be using it that much.

Trial and error can help you find out what works and what doesn't if you are willing to go that route. You might be OK with it, you might not. But the worst case would be more of an inconvenience for you, not something fatal to the chickens.

The idea of trying to limit the space to what we can reach easily (that's most likely a funny joke) with a rake would hopefully lessen the pain
Not a joke, what I did to extend part of run under my coop.

Do you use that deck for house access?

Oh, and....Welcome to BYC! @goldenfingers
Where in this world are you located?
Climate, and time of year, is almost always a factor.
Please add your general geographical location to your profile.
It's easy to do, (laptop version shown), then it's always there!

Well, it's been a while but I finally got the coop put together. Maybe some of you might be interested to see how it turned out so I'm posting a couple of pictures. Hopefully it will work for us. Time will tell...
Oh, and yes, we use the deck to access the backyard. It's the only door that leads directly there.
