Looking to try sand. I'm having difficulty finding the right kind of sand. I understand silica sands can be bad. I'm just hoping someone could point me to a brand or type of sand that is safe and readily available?

I buy it from an independent landscaping business - it's masonry / construction sand. Have used this for years without an issue, but the use of sand now has controversies.

Folks in cold areas have reported it doesn't work well there snow, ice, cold can make for a very hard ground for the flock. Likely someone with your climate will show up with their opines.
