Coop next to an AC unit?

your not only putting heat on the chickens.. you might be sucking in the smell... probably not a good idea..

I have read over this post and it was helpful. We have made sure that the unit is about 2 feet away from the unit also. Can anyone tell me what are safe coop temperatures for our hens? Thanks!

I would think you would want the chickens to acclimate to the climate. If anything i was thinking about a ceiling fan in the people portion of my coup. That would be separated by wire from the chicken area. This would help keep things cooler. Just a idea.

I've read that chickens become uncomfortable in temps>85f.
Mainly, at or above that temp, they need to be able to find areas to cool off in. If the coop is in full shade, with soil and sand to dust bath in, that's might be OK. Otherwise, they need areas in deep shade, under trees and shrubs, during hot weather.
