Coop on Ebay

Not sure if anyone told you yet but...

My calculations may be totally off since it is very early but isn't this coop somewhere around 10 sq feet?
That is very small for two chickens let alone four chickens. If I am right it's 4 sq ft per standard chicken in the coop and 10 sq ft per standard chicken in the run?
So...for four chicken you need 16 sq feet? I suggest giving them at least 6 sq feet each though. That would be 24 sq feet.
Happy chickens are laying chickens and they are less likely to pick at one each other.

I think many stores wanting to make a quick buck ignore the fact that chickens do not do well crammed together but they don't care because the average consumer doesn't know better and trusts the information. But don't worry about it ok? BYC is the best place for information and it's a great educational community.

Calculations are right on, that coop is 10.5 square feet. not big enough for 2 chickens giving minimum space. Might want to contact them and see if they make a larger one though.

I have 15 bantams in a 4x8 coop
with 4 nest boxes made out of milk crates.
with an attached run of 5x 10 but 4 of the bantams are
good size. But not quite standard size.
hope this helps.
