Yeah, most of the coop designs do go a bit beyond the bare minimum...

I tell people, "I just couldn't build a box with a roof on it." I had to build what was in my head : )

I took a proper look at your's, it looks good. I'd like to have an extra run like you do, but we don't really have the space for it

The extended run works great, except I wish we had used hardware cloth instead of chicken wire at least on the bottom half as we had a rattlesnake get inside the coop last August! Scared me to death. I now own snake boots and keep a shovel by the door!

You could buy a roll of insect netting and install it at the bottom, at least here you can buy 10" wide net that's usually installed in the airspace between paneling and insulation on houses, a fine metal mesh with 7mm (about 1/4") holes.
