We built this around 20 some years ago, at the time I called it the Chicken Hilton, cause it ended up costing a lot more than I planned on. Hadn’t had chickens in it for a couple years and it was in need of some minor work. We replaced the wire on top of the outside and secured some holes and bad boards inside the coop. The whole thing is kind of emotional as a friend built it originally and also sold me the nest boxes. He has since passed away. My mother always liked the chickens for their eggs but she only liked white leghorns. She passed away too about 13 months ago. We didn’t start any new chickens while she was in need of care and then didn’t have the heart to last year after she passed. My wife and I have been working a little along on getting the coop back ready for chickens and talked often while out there that Mama would have been happy to see us repairing it. She wouldn’t have liked our new chicken crop though no Leghorns. If the store would have had any at the times we bought I would have gotten a couple to honor her memory.
