Coop Poop Control...

It sounds like your going to have to clean it off when you get a chance. The chicks poop everywhere! I clean the coop with a litter box scoop every time I walk in there. I visit them every few hours.lol. So far I let the rain wash out the run. I have to figure out a better plan when it doesn't rain as often. I tried scooping the poo out of the run, but it didn't work. Winter will be tough here, I'm closing off the run and keeping them in the coop when it's snowed in. I'm sure it will be super messy in there and I won't be out there as often with subzero temps.lol

I have a putty knife/scraper and a very large dust pan. I scrape each morning and muck out the coop.
(my coop is large). Then I put down new pine shavings.

You will always have poo marks in your coop.

Chickens do poop everywhere. I keep a kitty litter scoop in the barn and clean out the nesting boxes everyday. It's also useful for the roosts. I use a fine-tined pitchfork for the shavings in the coop. Easy! BTW, chicken poop should be big, solid plops. If your hens' poo is runny you might have a health issue.

I don't even have chickens yet, but it seems that some coops have a ladder and some are more of a ramp. I would imagine a ladder of just rungs (no ramp) would get less poop on it since there is a chance of the chickens missing it all together.

I have pine shavings on the floor of the coop and on the poop board below the roost board. I use a putty knife type scraper and dustpan to pick up the poop every day -- only takes a couple of minutes. If there is the occasional looser more runny poop (sometimes from too many treats in their diets), I just put some shavings on the poop and next time I'm in it has dried up and the poop is absorbed, stuck to the shavings and easier to pick up. Not sure how your ladder is situated. Our roosts are fairly low, so we don't need a ladder - they just fly up.
