Getting my baby chicks the beginning of June, here's some pics of progress on coop, thanks for looking! (I've gotten so many great tips from this forum will be implementing alot of them)
finished floor, the nesting boxes will go in the wall on the left, flush with the plywood/studs, boxes will be inside shed on other side of wall, insulate and plywood walls, poop board will go above the nesting boxes, along the windows, and across that front shed window (roosts above the poop boards), will linoleum poop boards and I think wall behind boards.
On the right side of the pic is double side doors, installing a big window in one door, and chicken door on the bottom to outside 12 x 18 fenced area.. There is also an access door from inside the shed right next to where I was standing when I took the picture
Good job! Looks like you have carved off a piece of your shed? Will there be a pop door where they can get out? At first I thought the mat on the floor was overkill, but reflecting on that a bit I realize you can take it up and out to wash it off whenever you need or desire to, which is a good thing. Again, good job!
Is the mat spongy or is more of a hard rubbery sort? I would worry about the chickens pecking and eating the spongy kind. I'm a nanny and that sort of mat is often used in children's play areas to protect them from falls, but more often than not, the little buggers end up teething on the pieces they detach and chew on. I'm forever fishing out the bits so they don't choke on them.
