Just a question-Where can I find a sturdy,predator proof, long-lasting chicken coop that costs less that $300? :

Uggh! I don't know. Does such a thing exist? They can be pretty expensive. I have been looking for recycled things like dog houses and small buildings on craigslist. You may have to go that route. But maybe someone on here can steer you in the right direction.

Hmmmm, for how many chickens, and what kind of predators? If you use recycled materials and build it yourself you may be able to beat that price ceiling, but I doubt you'll be able to find anything prefab under that price.

Start talking to everyone you know. You will be suprised how many people are into raising chickens. In turn you will find several people who had them but no longer do and are just looking to get rid of the coop. I have run across two this week. They are out there.

You can certainly BUILD a small (or very-small) coop yourself, using scrounged materials, for less than $300. That would by far be your best route to getting something well-made and predatorproof.

Good luck, have fun,

Pat
