coop raised or on the ground?

ok, so I'm in the design stages of my 1st coop and im unsure on something: it ok to have the coop sit directly on the ground or is it better for it to be elevated a few inches? I've seen it both ways in pictures.
Coop is going to be 12x8 with a 6 ft inner height run is going to be 12x16 . the coop isn't going to be open on the bottom, we will be installing a floor.
Any suggestions or opinions will be greatly appreciated

i am a fellow newbie, but everything I have read and looked at, mostly shows elevated coops due to predators like snakes, rats, mice...etc.
