Coop recommendations

Personal choice, depends on your location? I will not insulate my chicken coop because they are animals and have been living in coops and barns FOREVER

Humans "baby" too much

Yeah, see - that's my take on it. Plus where I live the coldest it has gotten is 10 deg. I'm thinking the gals I ordered are all cold hardy, there will be 5-6 in all and then can huddle together for warmth. But then I've read all these threads about heating lamps and other contraptions in the coop, so I wasn't sure. I figure if it gets that cold, I'll give them some warmer bedding for the inside?

Until they are feathered then they need the heat lamp to replace not having their momma around but after that I say they should be good to go.

I use pine shavings. It doesn't hold moisture or mold and I can just toss it in the compost bin when I clean out the coop, and it insulates pretty well. Some people use sand. Just a matter of preference I guess.

Good to know! Thank you!
