I’m wondering what kind of security cameras everyone has in their coops? I’m looking for something inexpensive that I can use my phone with, while being anywhere!!

So I ended up going with both, the blink mini and the wyze v3.... So far i like both of them but i feel the wyze will hold up better in the long run. I have one in the regular coop and one where the chicks are for now

I also use Wyze. I have power at my coop, so mine plug in, but they have a somewhat pricier "outdoor" version that you charge up on a USB.

I primarily use mine to make sure the girls have gotten in and are safely roosting at night.

My coop is about 100' from my house/router and I don't have any wifi issues. I'm thinking about putting in a wi-fi extender out there, but really haven't needed it yet.

I have a SD card that records on a loop. I think each loop cycle is more than a day.

I also bought a $99/year plan that records all the motion alerts on the cloud. I like that for my house security, but don't really need it for how I use it at the coop. I don't want a text message every time one of my chickens moves

I use Wyze cameras. They have to be plugged in and you download an app for your phone.

You can also remotely record video with them.

How are the Wyze cameras holding up for you guys? Checking in as I'm getting ready to invest finally. Would be nice to get a better idea of who is laying and who isn't as well as who is sleeping where each night for dropping monitor. Thinking one inside and one outside.

Mine continue to do quite well.

I installed them pretty much as a joke, but I've found it's quite reassuring to check on my girls to make sure they're roosted and safe when the sun goes down.

I have a solid (corrugated plastic) roof over my run. If you're going to have them outside, I'd make sure they don't get wet in the rain. That seems to be where most of the complaints come from.

Yes. I had to upgrade my router to send a strong enough signal to the coop that is about 50 to 60 feet from the house.

I have a similar distance for my wifi to reach my coop. I've tried some signal boosters indoors with not much luck, so I'm curious, what router do you use that works?

I'm a firm believer in Wyze. They make probably the cheapest and easiest to use camera out there. It's quality is what I would call decent. I've only had one camera go out on me and it was the pan and scan. It was in a humid environment. I have probably 7 V2 cameras all with cards and maybe half of those under the eaves of my house or shop so outside but covered.

The new V3 is indoor/outdoor, but I'm still not going to just stick it out in the elements. I have one on the laying boxes so I can see eggs or who is laying. And another one on the run to see if any predators are trying to get in. I even use the outdoor wifi plug to turn my coop light off and on with a schedule. It also tracks use in kwts.
