When I finished our coop I built a fenced in area of 32' x 64' for the chickens run. We have 11 birds and they have taken the grass down to bare dirt. I am thinking about building on to the run and divide it into 3 sections where I can rotate them between spots and keep the grass in better shape where they don't stay so muddy. Plus they seem to love eating on the grass.

My question is, what type grass would be best to plant? I'm thinking something with a clover mix in it. Ideas anyone?

I am going to try planting clover this year and see how it goes. It will probably get mowed over and eaten down to the nub pretty quick like. LOL My chickens have already tore up all signs of grass in their area and I would imagine, keeping grass growing is going to be too much for me.

Good luck and I hope the clover works for you. :)
