My playhouse coop and attached regular coop have leaks which will all be fixed when my giant clear tarp comes this week. But the sand got wet and it has furry mold on it just overnight. I’m extremely allergic and have asthma attacks from mold so I realize it’s important to get it away from the chickens. My question for people that use sand is has anyone added anything to it for a little moisture or smell? Mixing in dust free litter, baking soda, or DE? The multipurpose sand is awesome to scoop poop but something that freshens it would be cool.

I have some sand under the roosts in the big coop also. I’ve thrown dry coffee back there and the coop smells amazing and my girls don’t try and eat it cause of the poop.

Might want to use something more that a tarp then.
