Is it OK to use the old pine-shaving litter from the coop as mulch for vegetable garden plants? I'm thinking it wouldn't make the soil too acidic since it won't be worked into the ground until the fall when the garden is finished......my husband disagrees. HELP!

We do at our house. It makes the soil very rich and nice. Just watch to make sure there isn't too much nitrogen in it. Also, be prepared for weird things to sprout from the chicken feed.
