Coop size help!

Other than the shed is most likely the best option we can't really give advice until you post the photos. Does it have any windows or ventilation. They are far more susceptible to frost bite when there isn't good ventilation. Their is too much moisture and that causes the frost bite. Most chickens don't have the luxury of a brick home. It is cooler in the summer and warmer in the winter than you average plywood coop.

I got my first chicks today

4 little beauties. I'm trying to buy them a coop at the moment but have no idea on size! Could anyone tell me if this would be big enough for 4 chickens? Thanks in advance.

4 chickens x 4 = 16 square feet minimum for a coop (sleep use only).

4 chickens x 10 = 40 square feet minimum of run or free range.

68 cm = 2.2 feet
175 cm = 5.7 feet

2.2 feet x 5.7 feet = 12.54 square feet.

No the coop drawing you posted is not big enough for 4 chickens.

I'm in the process of cleaning the room for them. Don't judge me

I haven't been in there since we moved here as I couldn't think of a use for it until now! So these are the best photos I could get of the room.

Looks great to me and far superior to the little coop you bought. What are the dimensions? you can build a ramp for the chickens to reach the shelves (or relocate the shelves altogether). no worries.

OK...you have a great start for a coop. The chickens don't need the shelves. They are high enough that you may want to leave some of them to store stuff on. Things like your oyster shell or grit. I would put it in plastic buckets and put it on the shelf in their coop. No need taking up extra room else where. You chicken are going to need nesting boxes and roosts. After that you just need bedding a feeder and a waterer and you are set to have your own flock. Where do you want the chickens during they day? This does look large enough for 4 chickens that you would not have to let them out. Though they do love exploring the outdoors. If you are going to let them out you will need to decide if they are free ranging or if you are going to add a run. If they are free ranging in your yard keep in mind that you will need to promptly lock them up at night to help protect them from predators.

Yeah, I wouldn't waste money on the tiny coop to put in the room/shed.

You could put a roost bar just above the lowest shelf, shelf could be a poop board and the nests underneath it.

Need some ventilation, that one window might be enough but not sure.
Might want to add a meshed window in the door for some cross ventilation.

Does the door go outside, will you have a run?
