I have a decent sized chicken coop and when I clean it and bring in more pine shavings since I get rid of the old ones. 2 of my silkies scratch them around then it’s all dirty again. I didn’t clean the coop long ago and now it looks like this :(

Also its dark out so I couldn’t make a clear pic

How large is your coop? How many birds do you have? How thick was the layer of pine shavings you put down?

Poop tends to accumulate under the roost the most, so regularly you could go out and clean under there, even if you don’t do the whole coop.

i have 18 birds in the coop, and I use about 2 large bags of pine shavings. I’m not sure how big it is though

We have multiple coops, but one of them has ~17 birds, around the same as you. Our coop is roughly 12 x 12 and we use 1-2 bags of pine shavings. We try to go out around once a week and clean under the roosts. We only have to do a full clean out every few months. We also occasionally spot clean particularly poopy spots. This keeps our coops fresh and relatively odorless.
