My Coop
My Coop
I have four sex links that were hatched 3/20 they are now just over two weeks. I have a small outdoor coop with small run I set up the coop with the ecoglow and food water roostin bar and sealed off nextong boxes. When can I just leave them out in the coop? I was going to bring them back on the garage at night wih the ecoglow in the glavanized cage until the are ready to be left outdoors. I'm in Cali, mornings are still cold a times as low as 39

I was told by a local breeder to leave them in the brooder for 6-8 weeks. I'm pretty new to this too. I would think that introducing them to the coop would be ok, but I wouldn't leave them out in the coop more than 10-15 minutes at a time and never without direct supervision. That way you can tell is they're getting too cold or anything else and get them back in the brooder.

I'm getting ready to put my first chicks in the coop with the heat lamp still on at 5 weeks, but they won't be allowed in the run yet, at least unsupervised for another couple of weeks.

Yeah baby steps I guess. I have the coop set up with the ecoglow so they won't get cold, I have a thermometer under it and it is measuring 80-85 and at two weeks they just need 85 so it should be fine. I'm more worried about night time. So for peace of mind I'll leave them in the garage at night and daytime in the coop until they are five weeks then I'm sure they will be fine.

I have been leaving mine outside during the day in their coop. I bring them back inside when the sun goes down. They love it. They are 6 weeks old.

I am in the central valley and I have been putting mine outside all day and bringing them in at night now for a week. I have 5 that are 5 weeks old and one that is 4 weeks. They are in an enclosed run when outside. They are loving it and doing great! They love to sprawl out in the sun, it is really funny to watch!
