Coop unveiling

Wooden lattice! That just gave me a solution on how to incorporate a dutch door entrance to my coop to allow more ventilation in the afternoons for our girls and not have to buy another roll of HC.

Any reason for not using removable poop boards but selecting a sand flooring for the coop? (learning question for me)
Just easier for me I one the door go in with my little rake and dust pan. And clean, if water gets in it’s under the sand drain hole located in corners with pvc in holes so wood won’t rot. Just works for me.

Looks great. Wire behind lattice work because its a weak point. I think chickens lay eggs some times. Where do they do that at in the pictures?
I have three nest boxes, but won’t put them in until they are closer to laying age. They are only 3 months old now so no reason to get them soiled before they need to be.

Our girls deserve to be spoiled don’t you agree?
Absolutely but I don't have just girls or chickens for that matter in my main coop i have 47chickens 8ducks 5guineas and 7bunnies my batchler coop has 9residents my outside brooder has 36pullets I have 207quail and 3 chick's that we just hatched in the inside brooder

The substrate in hen house is 1/2 inch rubber stall mat cut to fit. Then there is 1 inch layer of sand. Perches are removable for cleaning every side but where door is has a window with plexi and behind that is hardware cloth. There is a makeshift door to place on inside to cover gable with lattice to keep dry during winter and bad weather.
Stall mats are super easy to clean!

Preparing for winter, spread diatomaceous earth mixed in sand in coop and in hen house, hens should start laying next month so placed three hole nest box in house, need to hand feeder and set up heated base with galvanized watered will place on a cinder block away from fence cord will be on pvc pipe to where current in shed is located. Good ventilation provided by window and eave louvers. Boxes have pine shavings. During winter there will be additional bedding options offered in the flooring body heat will be enough to keep them warm. Additional roosts are being put in this week.

The girls and boy seem to be enjoying their new digs.
