Coop UPGRADE!

Well got started on the run today. Settled on 36’x12’ so everyone should have plenty of room. Old run tore down which was just a hungry predator incident waiting to happen. And we got 80% of the post set today. Hopefully get everything knocked out tomorrow.

Yes the pine tree stump falls inside of the run. We left it that way and plan to “reattach” some branches and make it a chicken tree.

AWESOME!

Well we are 90% there! Still have to finish the interior of the coop and a few things in the run.

Here are a few quick shots and a before and after my wife did. I’ll get some more posted up as we complete a few more things this week. But don’t think we did bad considering we started mid day Friday.

Thanks. Hopefully by the end of the week we can get all the trim work done, install the duck pool, complete the chicken tree, roost bars, and poop boards. Then waiting on the wood to dry to paint the whole thing. Not looking forward to the painting one bit.

Thanks everyone. And yes all pressure treated wood. Wasn’t fun carrying it back there.
I know that here in New England we have to let the pressure treated wood "cure" for a year before you can paint. Does it cure faster in warmer climates? Just curious because when I lived in southern areas I never did much with "carpentry" so I really don't know.

It can be HEAVY. Built a deck a few years ago, stuff was sodden, sticker stacked it for few weeks with fans on it, it still spit water when cutting and pooled a bit when driving screws.

Yes, at least a year....might dry faster in hotter climes, depends on how wet it was and how humid it is and location(sun vs shade).

Personally, I wouldn't bother painting PT.
