Coop UPGRADE!

Some of the wood was kiln dried after treatment some of it wasn't, So well just have to play the waiting game and see on the majority of it. But yeah can take just as long in the south sometimes longer based off the humidity. And curb appeal on this on is everything because it can readily be seen from the deck, our bedroom and when around the pool so we do want it to look a certain way. We may opt for staining vs painting we just haven't figured that part out yet.

It seems like you are in a more suburban rather than rural area so curb appeal can keep your neighbors happy. You could put some shade loving and non-toxic plants in containers on the outside of the coop and run. I live in a semi-rural, "right to farm" community. My coop is visible from the street so I put lattice on the street view side and put in lavender and mint planters. It looks decent from the street. And, I didn't have to paint.

Yes one side of the property had a neighborhood built there but only two house touch the property line and as soon as the rest of the deciduous trees come in we cant see each other the rest of 2 acres in the back is considered a wetland for some bizarre reason here in GA and cannot be built on. The neighbors don't mind the chickens as we bribe them with eggs occasionally. The curb appeal is really just for us, I tend to be a little out of hand with projects like this. We put down vinyl flooring with shoe molding, and I may or may not have picked up trim for after we assemble the poop boards.

Well, they are your chickens and if dressing up their home is important to you and your wife, I say good for you. We spend so much time trying to please others, it is really OK to please yourself. As Joseph Campbell said: "Follow your bliss."
