coop vent question....how to add but not let rain in?

If Im adding vents to a solid coop, would I want to put them at the bottom or the top? (I'm thinking top, the builder does it at the bottom, so I wasn't sure). Thanks

***This isn’t my coop, I haven’t gotten mine yet. How would I add high vents without rain getting in? Adding, I have very limited skill (basically none, Id be learning on the fly lol, and I have physical limitations, so hoping for an easy fix). Also, I'm super grateful this man is trying to help me out of this bind....really hoping he is able to make a coop for me this week.

What is that black material covering those bottom vents? Please tell me it's not window screen.

If that's what it is, they've just built an easy opening for raccoons to bust into the coop to eat the chickens.

My coop has more roof extension than the one pictured but I used a hole drill and drilled out holes in a line as near to the top along the wall as I could. I covered it with hardware cloth and got aluminum soft vent covers and screwed them on the outside with louvers pointed down. Best done on two sides that the prevailing winds are from. I did south side and north side. On the north side they are covered to close in the winter. I am in late seventies by age.

The vents need to be torwards the top. On small coops like the one pictured. I have installed vent register covers. They are easy to install. They are predator proof and they can be opened and closed. With just the slide of a button.

that is actually a pretty nice little coop and with the openings under the corrugated roof it has a good amount of ventilation as it is built. really, no modifications to it are necessary to have a nice little basic coop.
