Coop and run are done (or so I thought) and chicks are doing well in the brooder at about 3 weeks. A friend of a friend just offered a free 2'x2' window and recommended installing it facing East for the morning sun. What is everyone's input on window direction? Is East best?

I like mine South because of where I live...
- In winter it gets the most sun
- In the summer the sun is higher so it doesn't heat up too badly
- The wind almost always comes form the North/Northwest and blows to the South and East
- East would not receive much winter sun for me
- Practically everything around my place opens/faces to the South

I have windows all the way around.
I would put more than one window in. And back all of them with 1/2" hardware cloth.
Top hinged if they are just a single frame.

I have 2 windows on the West, North, and East side of my coop. The South wall of my layer coop is actually the North wall of my meat bird coop. The windows stay open from Easter until about Thanksgiving.

I have windows E, W, N. None South as that's where my winds blow from, so didn't see a real need for an extra window. But kinda wish I'd put one in anyhow, just for more light.

Long story short, install it where it makes sense in your layout.
