Our coop is built inside our barn and in order to keep the feather dust away from our horse we recycled windows instead of walling that side of the indoor coop. I love it! You can always peek inside. We also recycled a window on the outside wall to give the girls light year-round in addition to electric supplementation in winter.

I think you will be pleased provided you avoid South to Southwest heat...our outdoor window in on the Northwest.

Use glass that does not break into shards- we used tempered glass from old windows.
Some pics in the home page below.

If you can combat the heat problem, I think the running into window would be the biggest. I have one of the dirtiest dust covered, pollen coated, rain drop marred and spotted plexi glass window that is about 1 sq feet in area that you have to walk up to in order to look though... and the silkies STILL try to fly though it or perch on the sill that is blocked by this glass. Luckily, silkies suck at flying, can't normally get that high and as long as their heads are dry, can't actually see it.
