Coops and gardens

Rick your chickens are much more well-behaved then mine! Picture a 24" tall rooster, 20 hens all shoulder to shoulder with a tank! HAHA

I have no roosters, just 4 bared rocks, and 5 red sex links all older birds now. 2 leghorns, 3 welsummers, 3 easter Eggers they are only 4 months old so they may be different acting than my older birds. No huge birds in the flock.

I put little cages and fences around small plants. My chickens don't bother large plants of tomato, cukes, peppers, okra, basil, squashes, beans....they freely range in my garden eating bugs off the plants.

That is great and looks pretty good too. Looks like repurposed refrigerator shelving? What are the baskets? I may have to go dump diving. Your chickens are cute and polite :love

Same here! Why lose the battle when you can just plant more to keep them happy too! We currently have 15 tomato plants (Roma, Beefsteak and Cherry), for just my husband and I, and i give away a lot of produce to my mechanics at work. My hens are approx 15 weeks, and the only time they are out of the fenced backyard is if i open the gate. Been in the garden once and shoo'd them out. However they free range for 10+ hours daily. No issues since! Fingers crossed!

I have 29 tomato plants for just me, and, well, I guess the chickens! So far (they're 7 weeks old) they've enjoyed the last of the broccoli, outer leaves from the cabbages, the blooming bok choi, shredded carrots, Swiss chard, lettuce, but not my strawberries!
