Coop's coming along - slowly - LOTS o' new pics on page 3

Thanks again, everyone. I plan on using the deep litter method as well. I'm just afraid with our triple digit heat here in East Texas without a droppings board or pan, things will get a bit, errr, fragrant...

Thanks! Me too! If the color doesn't draw the layers to the nest boxes like moths to flames, I'm gonna get a neon arrow sign that says "Lay Your Eggs Here".

The interior color is a pale yellow, but in the pictures it comes across as white. Guess I shouldn't have gone so subtle with that color.

Here are some pics of yesterday's progress.

Hubby got the chicken ramp finished up.

And the guillotine pop door.

Got a second coat of paint on the floor. Thus far I'm not a huge fan of oil based paint. It doesn't fill in the cracks like latex does. But it's supposed to be more durable.

He bought and painted flashing to put over the human door and the pop door to prevent rain from running in and rotting out the wood.

And he got a second coat of paint put on the exterior.

There's still some things to do in the storage area, but I think we're going to go ahead and put the peepers in there tonight. Can't wait to see how much they enjoy their new digs!

Wow, really handsome coop -- a lot of well chosen innovations. Looks like your birds will be safe and happy.
