Coop's Done, Chickens Installed and Laying.....and now the Run is Done!

I did put the brick up because of the steepness, but had a thought yesterday that if we get a bunch of snow it'll keep it up out of the snow.

From what I've observed, they can make that hop easy, I have a ramp in the coop that is about the same but on some crates that are a larger footprint....could just put the block on it's side to start then raise it later........or maybe put another block on it's side next to it for a step.

Time will tell how they actually use it and if I'll have to modify it.
I so hope that the run will be done by this week....they need to get outside and I am tired (kinda) of building things.

Tired of building things?! Does that actually happen? My friend and I are wondering what the heck we will do to entertain ourselves once the coop is done. He suggests bowling....

Not really tired of building things, but tired of the mental and physical pressure of this project.

I've been at it since June, doing all of the work myself - except for meshing the eaves, which has played hell with my aging and arthritic body.

Tho it has also been greatly therapeutic both mentally and physically at this time in my life.

Ah yes... It's enjoyable work, but still sometimes work and so a period of rest is helpful. But, winter's coming so that limits what can get done for most of us I think.

Got the awning, wind break('Glass Foyer' - see coop page for details) done and door stoop started.
Figured out how to do door and have all materials ready to start building door today.

Run is DONE!!! Chickens in the yard!! YyyyaaaAAAYYYY

Got a rainless warmish day to finish up the run...FINALLY!!!

It took him awhile to decide, but he finally led them all down the ramp.......now to wait and see if he leads them back up at dusk.

They scratched up and snuggled down into some real dirt for a proper dust bath.

Yes, there was lots of scratching and wing flapping and running full tilt for more than 12 feet!
