Hello every one I was going to get some serama hatching eggs for my son to hatch for His birth day (which is on February 27th) and keeping the seramas with the main flock is not an option for us because of how little they are so I was going to buy a coop for them. Any suggestions for coops would be nice.

How many seramas do you plan on keeping? How cold does it get in your area? I've got a lovely breeding group of 5 seramas that I can't keep in my main serama coop so they're currently comfortably living in a heavily modified prefab coop like this

I've replaced all mesh with pressure treated plywood and gave it a floor and insulated it as much as possible. Lots of bedding too. But they also have a 25x38 ft. run attached to it so they can get out and peck around at some grass.

Have you checked out any of the small coops in the Articles section? You might find something there that wouldn't be too difficult to build. For the most part, the pre-built coops are not very sturdy and cost more than what it would cost to build your own better.

If you can it would probably be cheaper to just build your own.. My prefab coop cost about $200 (Without anything added to it)

It only costed me $75 to make a (Basically same sized) smaller but much more sturdier/insulated simple 4ft x 4ft coop (Not to mention very predator proof)
