Coops

Hello, welcome to BYC, few essential things you need for a healthy chicken coop, popper ventilation, predator protection, adequate space, roosting bars, nesting boxes, protection from the harsh elements, and clean bedding. Are you gutting out the trailer? leaving you clear open space for the chickens and easy access to cleaning, feeding for whomever is doing maintenance and such? I live in South Florida, temperature here is very hot and humid, in summer, rainy, our cold spells are very mild and moderate, an RV would have to be modified to weather pattern in climate, also, you dont say if the chickens will be in coop all day or free range most of the day and cooped at night.
Good Morning, did yu decide if you were going with the trailer, or are you building from scratch? fun stuff either way!!! my neighbor gave me 4 hens this weekend, 2 plymouth rocks, 1 austrolorp and 1 wyandotte they are about 3 years old, added them to my existing flock, seems all is ok, I normally put newer chicks and/or chickens in a quarantine situation away from the flock, however in this case i made the exception to add them right in bcuz Ive known my neighbor for years and they have good sensible husbandry pracite in place for their animals, otherwise, I wouldnt have bypassed the quarantine phase which could be 20 days plus for my flock. Take note, "Quarantine" good practice, avoids contaminating your flock if the new hens/rooster have a health issue

what are you feeding the flock? , treats?, deworming?, herbs?, fruits? kitchen scraps? any insect and rodent deterrents? I feed my flock the 20% protein Purina Flock Raiser and the new Purina 18% Flock to Farm chicken scratch, was using the Kalmbach 17% Henhouse Reserve prior. been about 2 weeks, so far so good, my hens are just now coming back from an extended "no egg laying vacation" lol..
