Hi everyone, it's Dr. McCrea again with info on a great new program on the East Coast. We are having a big event called COOPTASTIC! on March 13, 2010. This event is sponsored by Delaware State University and will have many coops on display, chicken breeds/varieities on display, workshops all day, poultry artists, poultry vedors, feed companies, contests and more! Later on today, we should have information on COOPTASTIC! up on the website www.featherfanciers.com Go ahead and look it up and mark the date in your calendars. Hey! Deleware is home of the Blue Hens! But that's Uof Del not Del State

If I was still up in NJ I would try to make it but I'm 12 hours away now

Dear Kathyinmo,
I am sorry to hear that you are unable to attend, but I am the nation's only Cooperative Extension Poultry Specialist who's job it is to service solely small flocks. I am housed at Delaware State University. If you are intersted in getting a small flock specialist, then you should approach your nearest land grant university. The event is meant to service people within the region (i.e. mid-atlantic or east coast). Delaware State University thus far has been the most progressive university in the nation with regard to having specialists working in this field. Perhaps you can ask the extension poultry specialist in your state to coordinate a similar event, but you will need to be willing to pitch in!
