I bought several copper marans as day old chicks. They are all 6 weeks old now. For whatever reason 1 never grew. Still no feathers. I do know what to do. I can't put it outside with the rest because it's so small. Anyone have any ideas. I've only had chickens for a year so I'm still learning.

Some of our BCM are right at this stage too- they are such fun! Do you know what line you have?

Re: your question... we had a RIR chick be runty and very small for some weeks, all of a sudden one day it started growing. Although it was always smaller than the others by a little, that chick did eventually catch up in size and looked and acted completely normal. I would not necessarily breed that one if you choose to breed them, even if turns out the best chicken, due to slow growth.

Don't know if you've checked out the Black Copper Marans disscussion board, but if you are serious about this breed, you may want to read the thread as there is SO much to know about them. (I did read the whole thread, and it took a month to read the 900+ pages, but it was better, more condensed information than taking a college course, and I am still learning something about them every single day.)
