We got our first Black Copper Marans in Jan. 5 hens and 1 Roo. They began laying approx two weeks after their transition and now suddenly for one week I've gotten no eggs. HELP!! Same feed has been maintained since arrival and occasionally give scratch for a treat. Two of the hens are probably closer to a year old and the other three closer to one and a half or two. We did add some new hens in another coop some 400 yards away about three weeks ago but other than that no changes.

Any help is appreciated. Thanks

That is strange - all quit laying - suddenly

Nothing New or Different

The light is increasing not decreasing during this time of year - so this could not be the problem.

Temperatures are increasing - not decreasing - so this could not be the problem.

They are old enough to start molting - - - but all at 1 time - - ODD

Worms would cause egg production problems - - but not all of a sudden.

Is it possible you have a hungry egg predator that has been visiting and eating some eggs and bothering the hens at the same time?

inspect each bird closely for mites or other parasites. The stress can cause egg laying to cease.
Also, what food are you feeding them? You mentioned you haven't changed it since you got 'em. However, anything less than a high quality- high protein layer diet will cause decreases in laying.

Good luck.

Layena from Tractor supply. We've introduced a few veg. like lettuce since we've had them as well for a treat. The coop is secure but there is an area that might be a great hiding place. I'll check that out tomorrow. Thanks
