Could be worse... could never GET a person. We keep having DSL problems and we get automated guy... who runs a test and detects a problem and then gets cut off to a dial tone mid sentence! So call back and it says it remembers that we just called and goes from there, for a minute, and then hangs up again... didn't used to be that way, last time we had an issue we got a human... this new system sucks. And you have to go through it before getting a human, and it hangs up on you before you can get through it.

I'm beginning to think ATT is purposely screwing with people's DSL so they have no choice but to convert to their new Uverse system... more expensive system I might add... that they've been calling, mailing, and door to door littering us about for months. Really, why else would they make the DSL tech support system impossible to get through, but if you want to upgrade service you're handed right to a person?? Coincidence, I think not.

Yes, it took quite some time to get a real person. They track the account using your phone#, and I don't have the same one as I did when I got the service, so that was an additional hassle.

It turns out that one of my neighbors got the same email. That pretty much narrows it down, as to the guilty party, since there's only one other neighbor, and they have teenagers. He has now encrypted his too.

Was it here, or over on FB, I can't recall. But someone said that they named their wifi portal NACHODSL... and then got to laugh their bums off when their neighbor kept griping that they couldn't get into 'their' internet... that it just kept saying NACHODSL... yup, there's a reason for that moron, it's NOT YOUR DSL... tee hee. If we ever switch to a wifi system I might just have to steal that one.

Actually, there is a way of proving your innocence or guilt, no file is ever truly deleted from your computer (unless you format and do a complete rebuild but even then...) you could always provide them with your computer(s) and have them searched for a) the movies/music b) the file sharing program if one was used... But it's a huge pain in the rear....

Actually even a reformat won't erase the data. It is there forever buried under layers of new data. Never throw your hard drive away unless you drill it with holes. The information like CC numbers and bank info can be retrieved. A good friend of mine is a computer forensic officer with the virginia sherrifs dept. He is the guy that gets the pervs with child pornography and solicitation of minors on the puters.
