Hi all,
My 8 month old yet seemed a little off yesterday, ruffled feathers, not moving, eyes shut, not wanting to leave the coup. I brought her in the house for 24 hours and gave her a warm bath thinking she may be egg bound. She had much improved overnight and seemed fine this morning so went back outside to join the rest of the group. She's been fine all day, eating and drinking. However, she just pooped and now there is a light pink ball or what looks like flesh/tissue/organ attached to a thin cord hanging from her vent. I'm unsure what to do or what this is? Any help would be much appreciated. I can attach photo if needed, little gross but i'm really worried about my little lady.

Welcome to Backyardchickens.com aka BYC! :frow
I'm sorry you are having to deal with this right now.

It also could possibly be a lash egg or an abnormal egg with a collapsed shell being the "cord." We really are more helpful if we can see pictures. Eggs are produced over about a day, and everything has to work in order for that egg to get out. We sometimes see a rubber shell-less egg laid or a collapsed one hanging out of the vent. Lash eggs are infection or slapingitis in the oviduct, and look like flesh with layers of gunk inside.
As Wyorp Rock said, it could be a prolapsed cloaca or vent, and maybe an egg membrane is hanging out. Here is some reading:

Here is a long thread with many pictures of lash eggs:

Thank you so much for getting back to me, this is so helpful and nice to know others have had experience with this. It looks very much like a lash egg from these pics, I've added a photo for your opinion.
However, Good news...After writing my post I went out to check on her and it appears to have dropped out, and I can not find it!?! I wonder if she or one of the other girls ate it?
