Please help me with sick hen, crop issues

Marmalade is a 5 year old and Plymouth Rock

a few months ago she had fly strike and a crop problem at the same time and recovered beautifully from both but now she’s sick again and seems worse.

She’s gone over 24 hours without food and I put a little bit of apple cider vinegar in her water. I offered her eggs a few minutes ago but she didn’t touch them which is what worries me most.

I felt her crop this morning and it’s still a little ball. It feels squishy but I think there also may be something solid that is creating a blockage. This is what her poop looks like

So, her crop feels full and squishy, or is there some solid or doughy substance inside the crop? Does she still lay eggs? Does she have any enlargement of her lower belly under her vent? If her crop has solid or doughy material in it you can offer some chilled coconut oil cut into small pieces to peck, and then massage it several times a day. If her crop is squishy and puffy I would not massgae it since it can force liquid back up into her throat causing choking. Then you could offer some miconazole or Monistat cream orally twice a day. I have a hen recovering from sour crop right now. I used the advice in the article that Eggcessive posted.

I just wanted to mention that wet cat food pate seems to be a highly desirable food for my sick hens that don't want to eat much. I use Sheba beef flavor pate in the little single-serve packs and it works really well.

I was also unsure exactly how to feed the miconazole to the chicken orally, whether to put it in food or use a syringe or something. I just put the blob of medicine on my finger and my hen ate it willingly on her own, so it must not taste bad to them. I would recommend that method if your hen is willing to eat it, then you can make sure they get the full dose.
