Cordwood chichen coop castle!

How does it compare cost wise to a plywood and stud coop.

That's a tough one; first of all I've never built a Plywood coop before. As a matter of fact, this is my first coop. Off the bat, I'd say that the costs are similar if not cheaper for the cordwood. The major difference would be labour. Building those walls takes time and patience. I'd estimate our cost at somewhere between 250 and 350$. That's using as many handouts / used materials as possible.

you really did do a great job with your coop. looks like a lot of hard work, but when something looks this good its worth it.

so you have inspired me. I have a down black walnut that is every bit of 50' in my back yard.... having a tree guy come up today to cut it down to size. I will start my project this fall to prepare for winter. as of now I have a chicken tractor that is doing the job but I now feel like a schmuck making three chickens sit in a 2'x4' space all day and night long. so... I am going to try my hand at this... I will post pics accordingly.
