cored apple

Our adult Khaki Campbells invade our pool through the dog door and will push the balls floating on the surface around. Our geese get pool toys tossed in their pools and some play with them. We have 1 girl who will try and carry her favorite toy with her.

I was actually thinking of getting them a bird toy from the pet store. Something they can nibble, bite at, knock around etc. They seem to love playing with anything and everything. I thought I might give it a try and see if they like it.

I read somewhere on this forum (?) about giving them a corn cob to peck corn off of. Corn is small enough they will not choke, cob is too big to swallow..... Maybe over cook the cob first so the corn is a bit easier to peck off, let cool and then hang for them ...or drop into their pool.
Im going to try it this weekend to see how my boys like it.

Hmmm, sounds like fun!!!

this sounds like that would be fun and no risk of getting a large chunk to choke on..gotta try it.

My ducks have found the love for watermelon! I just quarter it and put it on the ground and they go nuts! It's hilarious to see the watermelon all over their faces.

Back to the apples, I cut ours up into little chunks and they seem to do fine. I've found that the ducks aren't as food crazy as the chickens are (unless it's peas) - with searching for food all the time. They'd rather have a bucket or pan of water to play in if they don't have access to the pond.
