I have two peafowl eggs due to hatch out this weekend. They are under a chicken hen along with several chicken eggs. The pen they will be in has been used
consistently by chickens so I am very concerned about coccidiosis especially for the peachicks. Should I start all the chicks out on Corid immediately? I am concerned that if I wait for symptoms of cocci to appear it may be too late to save the chicks. Any advice??

We keep a dozen chicken broodies going through the season and sometimes forget to pull the eggs, so when they hatch under a hen we just pull them and toss them in with the incubated chicks and treat them all as needed.

That would be a good idea except that I have no incubated chicks to toss them in with. They will be raised by the mama hen in her coop which is why I am thinking I should treat their water with Corid from day one. I was wondering if that is a good idea or should I wait to see if there are any symptoms of coccidiosis. What do you think?

We do not medicate our broody raised chicks unless they appear to be in distress.
