Hi I would love your input. On Tuesday of last week one of my 6 week old chicks had pooped blood. It was not normal intentional shedding but blood. She was hatched by a broody that I put in with 3 chicks that were purchased vaccinated for mareks and cocci. Anyways I suspected it was her pooping bloody poop so I did the dosage for 5 days. Saturday being the last day. Today I went in and she was puffed up and head hanging on the ground. I gave her sugar water, vitamin e with selenium. She ate scrambled eggs. But she is sleepy and just not right. She is an orpington/speckled sussex cross that is/was acting normally otherwise. What would you do now? Treat longer...wait and give vitamins? Please help. My first time with this issue. Thank you

Powder or liquid and how much did you use?

-Kathy

Liquid 1.5 tsp in a gallon container
Dose is 2 teaspoons per gallon for 5-7 days, then 1/2 teaspoon for another 7 days. See picture:

You could also try to give her an oral drench of 0.02ml per 100 grams. This is what I do when I think they aren't drinking enough, and I do it one or two days in a row.

Thanks so much Kathy. When you say an oral drench is that with the corid water? Sorry I've never dosed this before.

In addition to their medicated water I would give them 0.02ml of undiluted Corid orally. Give 0.02 ml per 100 grams. Use the table below to calculate dose if you don't have a scale. A six week old average egg laying breed should weigh about 400 grams, so oral dose would be 0.08ml. Does that make sense?

Yes! Thank you kindly. I appreciate your help. I will do this now.

Yes. I have a syringe specifically marked for this. Thank you. I did the dosage for her weight in the chart you attached.

I hope she gets better! Try to get her to drink the medicated water, too. Maybe make a chick crumble mash with the medicated water and see if she eat it.
