Corn Cob Bedding For Young Chicks

Hey All,

We picked up a few more chicks to feed the addiction I call BYC. We usually put them on pine shavings but they kick this into their feeder and waterer no matter how high up they are.

I got a bag of corn cob bedding for free and was wondering if anyone has used it and/or your thoughts on using it under young chicks. Is it safe? Is it absorbant?

I've always heard that the chicks will think it's food and eat it. I don't think cob would be an easy thing to digest either.
