I was thinking about getting some meaties from Meyer because they are less expensive than Townline but after reading this thread I'll stick with Townline.
Their birds do great for us. Yeah we lose a small percentage but never had a problem with small birds or mass death.
We used to keep them with our egg birds but had problems the last batch because of some new birds. They like to eat the feathers from the broilers then it turns into pecking and blood. Not good.....
I do think that the gentle egg birds did help to motivate certain meat birds to get out and enjoy the run but many just hang out in front of the feed or water and get little to no exercise regardless. The egg birds also seem to make the broilers have to work harder for their food due to feeder competition.
The bad thing is that the eggs don't taste as good when the birds are eating high protein feed.
