Cornish Cross

[KC Chickens]

Hello everyone!
I'm curious if anyone has had Cornish cross chickens as "pets"?

I ended up purchasing 2 as chick's last year, one unfortunately passed young but the other one is still living her best life (minus developing some wry neck yesterday)

Has anyone kept Cornish hens long term? And if so, did you eventually get any eggs?

You can extend their life by a year or two with restricted diet and exercise but not longer than that. yes, they can lay.

I have a funny boy we call “MeatHead”, I got 3 crosses from TC along with 3 layers cause I wanted to try out the meat. 1 died to a hawk, 1 died cause he was born with many disorders and leg issues, but this last guy has been super happy and healthy his whole life. He isn’t allowed with the other chickens cause they fight. He gets my whole backyard to himself, I don’t let him eat himself to death. This is his first winter and he has been doing great surprisingly enough. There were some harsh days he slept in the snow.
