Does anyone feed 24/7 and process earlier? What schedule do those who remove feed follow? I've heard a variety of ages for when to start removing feed. I think I've heard that at 3 weeks we should move to 12 on feed, 12 off feed. I just can't imagine them going 12 hours without food (already! They are only 10 days old) I fill the feeder about 4 times per day now, and have since added a second feeder and they are still emptying all of it. When I refill them (4 times every 24 hours) they descend on them like they are starving...maybe it is just the draw of the fresh feed because usually the feeders are not even completely empty. When they line up, they can all fit at the two feeders, so I don't think it's that some chicks aren't getting a spot to eat. They are 10 days old and I've just about gone through 50 pounds of feed for 40 chicks. Does that sound like I'm not giving them enough? Don't want to starve the little things, but it sort of seems like no matter how much I give them, they will still act starved...

I was laughing last night because they were all trying to settle down for the night, and then a new chick would try to snuggle into a group, and wake them all up, and they would all stand up and go eat...then go settle down, wake up some other chicks who would go eat...it was like their first though on waking...very funny

Anyway, and advice on feeding schedules and when I should be removing feed?

I start restricting feed to 12/12 after 2 weeks. They'll be fine. They won't LOVE it, and they'll be excited to have food in the morning, but they'll be fine. Feeding 24/7 is bad for them, and you'll go broke.
