Two Cornish chicks, the first (the one laying down) is one week older than the second. They are about 4 1/2 and 3 1/2 weeks old. What do you think? I know what I think, but am wanting some more input.

They both look like boys to me too, but I'm curious why you want to find out? These are Cornish X, right? So aren't they food before they can even do anything gender specific regardless? Just curious.

The one laying down is a pullet and the one standing is a cockerel. They are cornish X which means they are a terminal cross and will likely not even live long enough to reproduce. They are bred to grow at a phenominal rate in order to produce meat in the most cost-effective way possible.

Thanks for the guesses, I am leaning towards the one laying down as a girl and the other a boy. I agree, not an ideal bird in terms of keeping with their genetic difficulties and growth rate. However, will give them a quality life (currently have one that is almost 8 mos old) for as long as it is quality for them. They are a bit of a challenge to keep and need some special accomodations such as comfortable and low roost/no roost but dry area to rest or lay eggs, soft ground as they are susceptible to bumbles due to weight if on rock or stone and some exercise. Again, aren't my choice, but I rescued them, got them better and feel an obligation towards them. Please no slams about this....just curious on the sex as anyone is in this section.

I have two cornish Xs too that I got from TSC...I didnt know a thing about chickens at the point and didnt know these are bred specifically for Dinner...

Mine will live as long as they are happy...I couldnt eat them at this point.

But I agree, the one laying down looks to be a hen, the other a roo.

I have a rescued Cornish X given to me by a friend after it fell off a chicken truck (I assume on the way to slaughter). I've had her inside upstairs for 3 weeks in quarantine. Doesn't act much like my mixed flock who are 16 weeks. Do y'all think she can join the flock successfully? I didn't know what she was or anything about Cornish X, but now am concerned she won't live long and is so different, I'm thinking the others will pick on her. Also, since she tends to sit in one spot and poo there, her rear stays pretty icky...normal?
