Hi Big Medicine

After seeing your Father birds, I bought Three hen from a guy that look similar to the blue's but they are Dark Cornish I am plaining to use these hen and a rooster I got from another breeder.Could you post a few pictures for me when I get some,the next nice day I take some . Would you tell me what you think of this stock?

I'm sure there are much better evaluators of Cornish talent on this site, but yeah go ahead and post them. I imagine some folks who know their way around a Cornish will help out as well.

These look more look Chanteclers (or Albertans) than some of the Buffs I've seen!

Tell me more. How do they lay? VERY slow to mature or just regular slow to mature? This looks like an awesome bird in and of itself, forget turning it into a BLR Cornish, LOL! For my climate, I personally wouldn't want them to have any harder feather than that.

Good fertility? I want some of these guys! Are you selling eggs from them? Or even better, chicks?

Edited to add that I would also be willing to look into shipping some of your "less Cornish" culls if you are willing to ship older birds. I am truly intrigued and fascinated by these.

How do they lay ? Hard to say, as they are first generation and are just starting to get the first pullet eggs. Looking at the parent stock, on the male side decent to good layers. The cornish blood on the female side is not likely to improve it any.

Rate of maturity ? I would say regular slow as you put it, they are very hefty birds, but shorter, and faster to mature than my Brahmas.

Fertility ? I would not expect fertillity issues, while they have nice wide type, they do not have the extreme width or short leg length that tend to cause these problems in show quality Cornish.

Meat production The extra males were very large and well developed, even the hens are well muscled.

Eggs ? We will probably float an auction here once they are laying.

They are great looking Cornish in my limited opinion.
I know what you are talking about. I dont think people understand how many chicks you have to raise to have only a select few to breed from the next year. I have raised over a 100 in a season to cull down to two pairs to breed from. Recreating or rebuilding or creating any variety is an intensive project. I cant imagine how many birds you have had to hatch over the years to create these varieties....
Congrats to you though, you have some gorgeous chickens.
