Cornish Thread

If the Cockerels are fairly similar and been together, I would encourage you to keep two males with your females. We did this for a while and seem to keep our standard males a little more "active in years 2 & 3 when they can have a tendency to get lazy. Also always nice to have a back up

CLSranch, they look much bigger than mine. Yours have nice yellow legs too, mine have a bit of greenish overlay. I was hoping for one with a pearl eye, none of mine seem to have it but I think I can see some in yours.
Spangledcornish, I only have 3 hens, won't keeping 2 roosters in with them be a problem? So far I have picked the best 2 of 3 roosters, still early but watching. My #1 started to crow today. Ha haa haa! They try so hard.

2 Roosters shouldn't be a problem as long as you have several hens. I usually have the coons eat my hens. Once I was going to start incubating. I ate all but 1 rooster then something got him. No fertile eggs.

I don't want to cull any roosters unless one becomes extremely nasty. So far they all get along, so I'm very hopeful. the Cornish have great manners, like my Buckeyes. They are maturing very nicely. I love the Cornish, they look almost varnished, they never seem to have a feather out of place and they never went through any awkward stages of growth. the Buckeyes are lovely when mature but they look a bit odd now and then, as they grow.
