I will be looking forward to seeing pictures of them.

I'm working on a blue/green egg laying meat bird, so have done crosses of quality Cornish to an Ameraucana, but using large fowl. I have a few now that are 3/4 Cornish and 1/4 Ameraucana and they look a lot like birds that hatcheries sell as DC, possibly better Cornish type than many, though some have muffs.

The F1 chicks from Ameraucanas over the commercial white meat birds commonly called Cornish Rock or Jumbo Cornish Cross are looking much better to me as meat birds.

P.S. The yellow skin and shanks of Cornish is a recessive trait. You may possibly produce yellow or green shanked chicks from the gray shanked birds you buy.

I just got home from buying feed and have figured out that now is not a really great time to be adding to a flock, and that banties are starting to look more attractive...................................... crumbles have gone up $3 per bag since last week.

Have a safe trip. I'm really curious about his line, so looking forward to pictures.

We are very serious about raising standard white Cornish, and would love to help preserve this breed. If anyone knows where we could get a start in these beautiful birds please send me a message.

Hi everyone,
I have a question for the Bantam Cornish people....has anyone seen this article in BYP mag from aug/sept of 2011? The article is Greylegs: A Homemade Bantam Breed by Felix Blanchet. Apparently, these Cornish lay green eggs and have grey legs. Anyway, I am awaiting the back issue of the magazine as he has offered me some of his stock for free.He is an older man who wants someone to continue with his project, and as I had sold his brother some turkey poults and we got along really well, it ended up with me talking to Felix. I plan on going on a 3 1/2 hour trip to see his birds and he is going to give me some starter birds.I was wondering if anyone had seen this article and what you thought of the birds?

I am dying to receive the article!!

Thanks for any help/input!

These are not Cornish. They are Cornish crosses.......just another hybrid chicken, but not a Cornish.

Thanks, Walt, I think that this is an on-topic question, as the OP is asking Cornish people (and this is the appropriate thread) what they think if they have read this article. I know some folks in BYC dislike any introduction of new breeds made by crossing established breeds, but to shut down conversations and questions regarding these is unproductive. I am interested in whether anyone who is into Cornish has read the article and what they think. I'm sure you didn't mean to make the thread adhere to only your interests.

On-topic can also mean the party you're addressing- in this case, Cornish folks.
